Apparently, concerns of exploding trees this winter have circulated online as people in multiple states prepare for more bone-chilling temperatures.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has forecast "life-threatening cold" and the potential for wind chills as low as minus 50 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 46 degrees Celsius) across the Northern Plains.

While you likely won’t witness a tree erupting at its trunk, hurling splinters and branches every which way, you may hear your trees responding to the frigid temperatures.
