Travelers stuck in line for hours at airport security this week are the latest victims of a partial government shutdown that has dragged on for nearly a month.

Being part of just one airport program that speeds you through security may not be enough anymore, especially when events like government shutdowns, major storms, and system outages can create long lines and travel disruptions.

The TSA checkpoint at the Palm Springs International Airport opens about 90 minutes before the first departure and closes after the last flight departs, with average security waits running under 10 minutes late Sunday morning, according to the airport's website.
