Sometimes, scaphoid fractures do not appear on the X-ray in the acute phase due to edema but become clear after that. A scaphoid fracture is seen in adults more than in older men.

A fracture line without a frank union at the proximal part of the scaphoid bone is better seen on a scaphoid view x-ray.

X-ray shows a transverse fracture at the distal third of the left scaphoid bone. Soft tissue swelling is noted.

A fracture line with sclerotic margins is seen in the distal pole of the scaphoid bone. The rest of the bones are unremarkable.
